Star Trek Online is a massive online role-playing game for PC based on where you are captain of a spaceship to explore the universe for new planets, races and civilizations. Known and loved Star Trek items are from breeds such as Klingon and Borg, for the iconic circular vessels.

The content is very similar to what you find in the famous TV series, where the action takes place both on the ground and in outer space. Fancy dress parties are a common happening in the UK. No matter what the occasion – whether a stag or hen party, birthday, or just a night out on the town – Brits love to dress up in costumes to party.

But while showing up to a party in a costume is certainly one of the best parts of the fancy dress experience, the fun actually starts much earlier. Some people like to surprise the party with their unique, self-made ideas, while others enjoy teaming up with their friends for a collective fancy dress effort.

And groups certainly have a lot of fancy dress costume options to choose from, ranging from movie and TV characters, to rock bands and era costumes.

Among these options, film character costumes – especially those from well-known or older films – have been rising in popularity over recent years. This likely has something to do with the fact that many fancy dress party guests can instantly recognise such costumes, as well as relate to them. Star Trek is one of the longest running science fiction entertainment franchises in history. Gene Roddenberry created the original Star Trek television series for American audiences. The original show was on air for three seasons, starting in 1966. It was about the interplanetary adventures of the Starship Enterprise, headed by Captain James Kirk (portrayed by Hollywood icon William Shatner) and the Federation crew. Six movies and an animated TV series continued the original series’ storyline.

There were four other television shows produced, centering on different sets of characters. Star Trek: The Next Generation occurred several decades after the original series, with Jean-Luc Picard, the Starship Enterprise’s current captain played by the venerable Patrick Stewart. The stories of Star Trek: Voyager and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine happened within the same time frame, and were led by commanding officers Kathryn Janeway (played by Kate Mulgrew) and Benjamin Sisko (portrayed by Avery Brooks). Four subsequent feature films were made about the crew of Star Trek: The Next Generation. A revival of the original Enterprise characters was seen in a 2009 movie.

The Star Trek franchise also comprised hundreds of books, several computer games, various merchandise lines, and a Las Vegas attraction centered on the mythos.

If you want to channel your inner Trekkie, you can dress up in so many costume styles to fit any age and size. I was taking pics around Frat Row at San Diego State, when all these cars suddenly pulled up. Suddenly, I was surrounded with sorority girls dressed up in slutty Halloween costumes. Needless to say, I grabbed my camera out as fast as possible. haha

One of the head girls challenged me and asked me what I was doing. I told her I was shooting in public legally and wasn’t going to put these up for commercial puposes. Needless to say, she didn’t seem too happy about this as the girls headed into the frat houses to surprise the frat boys.

A homage to the original Star Trek series which I loved as a kid, this was in 1980 when BBC2 showed the reruns. Everey time i see those fader controls in Gordies edit suite I remember Scotty`s transporter controls and the cool little sound they made.

My top was treated in photoshop to make it yellower and the badge from a chocolate bar wrapper! Just in case you think I have the star trek outfit at home ;)
